SPEAKER

Dr. Ngoma Evelyn Moghalu (Dr. M.) is a wife, mother, educator, public speaker, published author, and avid advocate for women, and Autism awareness/acceptance. Dr. M.’s advocacy is informed by her personal experiences as a woman, and mother to her handsome son with Autism. She has a Bachelor’s degree in political science, and a Masters’ degree in Mass Media Communication Studies from Howard University, Washington, D.C. She obtained her Doctorate degree in Sociology from Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas.
Dr. M. is a recipient of the prestigious Senator/Ambassador Patricia Roberts Harris Fellowship, sponsored by the Ralph J. Bunche International Affairs Center at Howard University. This fellowship secured Dr. M. an internship on Capitol Hill where she interned with the Sub-Committee on International relations during the leadership of the Late Chairman Henry J. Hyde.
Her ultimate goal as an educator, and communication specialist is to shape the minds of her students by ensuring consistent teaching and messaging across all social platforms. Her teaching philosophy is grounded in the belief that education should empower students to think critically, by using public speaking as a fundamental tool for personal agency and civic participation. This will encourage students to engage deeply with the material and apply their knowledge to real world contexts. Her goal is to help students transition from viewing public speaking as a performance to appreciating it as an act of authentic communication. The goal is to prepare the students to become eloquent speakers who participate in dialogue with their communities. Importantly, she strives to create an inclusive and dynamic learning environment where students feel valued and motivated to contribute to public discourse.
Dr. M. is committed to advancing knowledge, promoting dialogue, and fostering social change through her work. She brings diverse perspectives and experiences to her students, and she values public discourse, critical inquiry, creativity, curiosity, and inclusiveness. She has a robust academic background in public speaking, politics, communications, sociology, Africana studies, and a demonstrated track record in enhancing education.
In her spare time, Dr. M. enjoys being on stage where she shares her stories through public speaking engagements or podcasts and exploring her passion for acting through film and theater.
